Blissful Valley by Lufteluke Blissful Valley by Lufteluke
Hmm, I'd forgotten I had this. It's from Spain Greece. I don't really recall what the town was called, but I do recall it being 40°c and that we walked up a footpath from the bottom down there up to about this altitude. Which, in retrospect, was a horrible idea. We later figgured out we could have driven up, actually, I think this was taken when we drove up afterwards. It was a wonderful trip, though.

Oh wait, I recalled something, it's called Meteora. There's a monastery here (to the left of where this is taken) where they shot some scenes for 007: For Your Eyes only. We got there 2minutes after closingtime, however. Not a very big loss, though, the nature here is what is truely amazing, looks like something out of a fantasy movie. This picture does not do it justice.

EDIT: I'm was asleep when I wrote that and said Spain instead of Greece, where this place is. Also, the monastery in the picture is Holy Monastery of Rousanou, currently only populated by nuns, while the one in James Bond is called Monastery of the Holy Trinity.

Indeed it is, but it's not easy telling yourself that when it's hot as hell and you'd rather just find an airconditioned car and drink some water XD

Oh, man. I hear ya there! I hiked up the side of a crater (1000+ stairs!) on my trip and the worst part was coming down and knowing that hurrying to get to said Air conditioned car could result in injury!!! lol

Haha, at least the trip down isn't as hot as going up. We were kinda lucky that there was actually a lot of shadow, because there were those tall cliffs there and a lot of trees. Mosquitos and gadflys feeding on the local kettle made up for that bit of relief, though.

Did you get any good shots from your thousand steps, then?

Oy It was SO much hotter on the way down the crater! No shade and a lot more sun!
I did get some pics but have been lazy.

Thank you^^

Yeah, that was a pretty massive undertaking, just walking up there was a fairly hard. They built them like that to fend off attackers, though. Quite brilliant, really, made them nearly impossible to attack.

I wonder if the location was ever used in a movie.
The more you look at it, the more amazing it is. :butterfly:

Yes it was, in James Bond, For Your Eyes only.

However, it featured the more impressive Holy Trinity monestary, it's much harder to get into and is a more impressive building.

It isn't in this picture, but this one has a prettier backdrop ;p

That's an incredible view! Must have been like a fairytale to be up there O:
Wonder if these are normal villagers who lives in the houses/towers to the right ?

Around that time, yes it was. Perfect light and amazing scenery. The tall cliffs are insane, reaching up to 400m tall. Not much like it anywhere in Europe. I also feel like mentioning I must have been sleeping when I wrote that, because it's in Greece, not Spain

The tower on the picture is a monastery too, though it only has nuns. The villagers in the city are mostly direcly on the other side of the cliff there, but you can see the outskirts in the valley below. And yes, they have fairly normal houses, for Greece. (not Spain)

It was also in Greece, not Spain. I'm an idiot, remembering the city, but not the nation :XD: Yes, it was. Pretty amazing.

The one on the edge is actually not the one I was talking about, that one only has nuns. The one in James Bond is about 2km down the road, to the left. Out of sight

Thank you, and thanks for the fave, not to mention the comment^^ Which is like a fave, only thrice as awesome.

Greece is pretty nice, better than Spain in my oppinion. People are generally nicer and more inclined to help you. And they don't torture bulls in public for entertainment
